Together, Kucheza and Dairy Training Center trained a group of trainers from RVIST, the local government and a cooperative. Dairy Training Center had its focus on practical skills and Kucheza was responsible for the financial implications. The trained trainers were training young farmers and students who wanted to become dairy farmers in Kenya.
The training of trainers was done on site and remote by local trainers of DTC and Kucheza, with support of RVIST.

How to integrate the business perspective into an existing agronomy curriculum?

Kucheza and Seed4Farmers work together to train a group of trainers from three local collaborating initiatives in Zimbabwe, so that they in turn can train small farmers to start treating their farm like a business. The three initiatives, Hamara Business School & Outgrowers Project, Africa Alive and TMG all work with smallholder farmers, yet with slightly different profiles.
The training of trainers was done fully remotely by the Kucheza team, with support of local trainers of Ebenezer Agricultural Training Centre. Using a combination of game play, video’s, online and offline exercises and role play, we were able to deliver a participative, engaging training.
Together Hamara Business School & Outgrowers Project, Africa Alive and TMG have an outreach of 20,000 farmers that will be introduced to the Kucheza game-based learning approach.
Enabling Village Service Providers to provide financial business coaching to farmers.
How to supply Village Service Providers with financial knowledge and skills to add value for their smallholder clients?

In the Seed2Feed project, 30 Village Service Providers have been recruited to provide services to and increase financial literacy among smallholder farmers. This will ultimately lead to increased creditworthiness of smallholders. We trained 30 village service providers and 40 farmers in different places with a focus on tomatoes and coffee.

Kucheza is training school drop-outs in KwaZulu-Natal in agripreneurship. Kucheza is in the process of founding a new generation cooperative to supply young agripreneurs with the possibility to start up their own farm and collaborate with peers and others.
Improving business skills amongst the 120 apprentices of Ebenezer Training Farm.
How do you provide students with entrepreneurial skills and views to make their farm profitable?

Kucheza trained the trainers of Ebenezer and implemented the Kucheza method into the Ebenezer curriculum. Kucheza used a special version of Farming Forward customized for Ebenezer.
10 trainers at Ebenezer use the Kucheza method on a daily basis with 120 students annually.

Strengthening the management of two cooperatives in Burkina Faso
How can cooperative managers strengthen the resilience of their members and let them increase their income?

The drops4crops project in Burkina Faso and Benin has its focus on watermanagement, entrepreneurship and adding value to the onion value chain. Kucheza provided training in record keeping, cash flow, calculating profit and loss, entrepreneurial finance, costing, business planning and cooperative business development at cooperative level. Kucheza trained 30 managers of two cooperatives.
The cooperatives are better supporting their members with the game, which is used for training and informed decision making. Together the cooperatives represent more than 20,000 farmers.
